Registration is open for the 2010 Got Guts 5K Run/Walk and Gluten-Free Food Fair. The event will take place on September 12 at 8 am. You can register online at the Got Guts Web site.

Prometheus Therapeutics & Diagnostics has donated 300 celiac screening tests for the 2010 Got Guts 5K Run/Walk and Gluten Free Food Fair. The screenings will be done at the race on a first come first serve basis.
The screening tests can be used to screen for celiac disease in those who are currently eating gluten. The test can also be used by diagnosed celiacs on the gluten-free diet to ensure that you are not unwittingly eating gluten.
To be eligible for testing you must be registered to participate in Got Guts. You can be registered either as a walker, or as a runner, or as a food fair participant, but you must be registered. If multiple members of the same family are interested in the participating in the screening, each family member to be tested must be a registered participant.

In February H-E-B shared quite a lot of information with us at a meeting of Alamo Celiac San Antonio. Michael Dagerath, Manager of Product Development, led the presentation and introduced us to people in other H-E-B departments who are working on ways to assist gluten-free shoppers. These people then made it clear that there’s a lot happening at H-E-B in 2009 with regard to gluten free. To read all about it, just click on the “GF@H-E-B” button on the right menu.
