  • Ready-made gluten-free bread is pricey, and trying to find one to suit a person’s individual taste may be discouraging. For people who not only have to avoid gluten but also have to avoid foods to which they are allergic, finding a ready-made bread with the right combination of ingredients may be time-consuming, if not impossible. The solution is to make bread at home. It is not as difficult as it sounds.
  • The next meeting of Alamo Celiac San Antonio will be at Whole Foods in Quarry Market where we will have a bread-making demonstration given by Debbie Holladay. We will begin with simple quick breads such as pancakes and muffins and progress to yeast rolls and loaves. We will discuss the differences between non-gluten flours, giving special emphasis to whole grains and pseudo-grains. People who attend will be able to sample breads made during the demonstration and take home recipes. Join us and see how easy it is to make bread at home!
